Know what Keghanq is? It's a prize for Armenian journalists and media outlets distorting facts

For the first time ever a prize will be defined in Armenia for those media outlets and journalist that have distorted facts in their materials, President of the Writer's Union of Armenia Levon Ananyan told a press conference today.

Titled "Keghanq" the prize envisages diplomas and 3-ruble banknotes printed in 1937 - the year that a lot of known and renowned Armenians were arrested, executed or sent to Siberia under Joseph Staline's rule.

"The tree of press is growing today upside down. What is happening on the pages [of press] is a nightmare," said he.

According to Mr Ananyan, part of the Armenian society is spending a lot of efforts to preserve the country, while the other part is doing its best so that the country will not establish as such.

"In this case a human being remains unprotected. An internal war in the society breaks out," he added.

Further, he said that the contest will be summarized at the end of December.

"The contest will be carried out in different nominations - printed press, TV, radio, etc."
