Murray fights off Nalbandian in thriller

Andy Murray made it to the end of a rollercoaster match, and progressed to the third round after beating David Nalbandian 2-6 6-4 6-3, reads the article posted on the Scottish sportsman website.

The Argentine seemed to be in fine fettle coming into the match, and he was undoubtedly the quickest coming out of the blocks.

Murray was not playing particularly badly, but the mercurial Nalbandian was proving too hot to handle, and he broke twice, to pinch the first set in little over thirty minutes.

However, the Scot showed his versatility as a tennis player, and instantly changed his tactics on serve. Adopting a staunch serve and volley approach, Murray started to hold more comfortably, yet still seemed unable to carve out any opportunities on his return games.

Murray hung tight, and at 5-4 up, he grabbed the first break point afforded to him, and suddenly, the match was all square.

The momentum seemed to have swung, but credit to the man from Cordoba, he dug extremely deep to stay in contention. There was a minor scare, when Murray called for a medical timeout at 3-3.

After the time-out, the Briton was tentative, but his opponent's rhythm seemed to have been affected, and Murray reeled off three straight games to seal an impressive win.

Wrist permitting, Murray is through to round three, and will face the giant Croat, Marin Cilic, who could be a potent threat on these lightning fast courts.
