Armenian army will have advantages should the war resume: Nezavisimaya Gazeta

The Armenian army will have advantages in case military operations resume in Karabakh, according Russian newspaper Nezavisimaya Gazeta.

"Baku and Yerevan recently exchanged hostile statements. Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev announced on Sunday that the Karabakh conflict could be resolved by use of force at any moment. This was followed by Armenian Defense Minister's statement saying that Armenia's army could impose peace on Azerbaijan upon necessity," writes the author of the article titled Coercion into War.

He further notes that the military operations will extend to the neighboring countries, with Turkey becoming Azerbaijan's military partner and Russia cooperating with Armenia.

Military experts predict that in case the war resumes, Karabakh will gain advantage over Azerbaijan despite the latter's technical capacities acquired at the expense of oil dollars.

"Moral-volitional readiness and the spirit of army are more important," the daily writes, underestimating Azerbaijan capabilities in this respect.

The Armenians will be able to protect their homes taking specific measures, not just demonstrating military-patriotic conduct. But heaven forbid if that happens as a new war will completely ruin the district, a source told the paper.
