Turkish and Azerbaijani films screened in Yerevan

Turkish and Azerbaijani propaganda films were screened Friday in Tekeyan Cultural Center, Yerevan.

The film series aim to demonstrate Armenians’ image in Turkish and Azerbaijani films, founding member of Zharang (Heir) cultural NGO Karine Vrtanesyan told journalists.

“Armenians in Turkish and Azerbaijani films always act as blood-thirsty and shaggy haired beasts, and youth in their countries is brought up on such images,” she said.

Thus, one of the Turkish full-length films - One Hundred and Twenty - was shot by state donations.

The organizers also screened 2 Azerbaijani short films and a cartoon.

“There are a lot of films of this type,” Ms Vrtanesyan said, adding that the event may be made on-going given there is interest in the society.
