Armenia appreciates Russia's mediatory efforts – Serzh Sargsyan

Armenia appreciates Russia's mediatory efforts in the Karabakh conflict settlement and expects a positive outcome in the near future, Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan told his Russian counterpart Dmitry Medvedev at the meeting in the Kremlin.

“Russia has always played a key role in the Caucasus. I hope your efforts will produce a positive result,” Sargsyan said.

"We also want this very much," Russian president said in response, stressing the importance of discussing current problems in international forums and bilateral meetings.

“These are good opportunities for synchronizing our clocks and certainly discussing the possibilities for the Karabakh conflict settlement. These are also opportunities for specifying the guidelines for future,” Medvedev said.

Armenian president noted in turn that periodical meetings enable parties to discuss the multilayer cooperation frameworks.

“I am pleased to note that our strategic partnership steadily continues. The agreements signed during your last visit imparted a new spirit to our relations. We agreed to meet later in autumn to sum up the implementation of the agreements concluded,” Sargsyan said.

He also noted that Armenia strives for peace and stability in the Caucasus and, to that effect, seeks a peaceful and long-term settlement of the Karabakh conflict.

The parties stressed their privileged nature of the bilateral cooperation issues.

President Medvedev said that frequent meetings with his Armenian counterpart help in dealing with bilateral cooperation and regional issues, discuss ways for the Karabakh conflict settlement and determine the guidelines for future.
