Ban British Council in Armenia, demands Constitutional Rights Union Party

Constitutional Rights Union Party (CRU) demands Armenia to take steps to suspend the activities of the British Council in Armenia, party’s leader, Hayk Babukhanyan, told a press conference today.

Saying that the British Council has done a lot in Armenia, Mr Babukhanyan, however, mentioned that it also supports the organization of what he called “treacherous projects,” namely the planned screenings of Azerbaijani films in Yerevan that did not however take place.

“The British Council supports a treacherous project called Azerbaijani Film Festival,” said Mr Babukhanyan.

The British Council recently organized also training in Tsakhkadzor on sexual minorities, raising questions such as how to introduce them and how to protect their rights in the Armenian press, he added.

“This directly destroys all the traditions the Armenian nation has. Our party is demanding today to ban the activities of the British Council in Armenia, as it is banned in Russia. It is impermissible to allow them to destroy our country ideologically, to subject our country to ideological annexation, aggression,” said Hayk Babukhanyan.
