French actor Gerard Depardieu supports Hayastan All Armenian Fund

Tert.am reported yesterday that renowned French actor Gerard Depardieu has appealed for donations to help Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh in a video posted on YouTube.

After the report was published, Azerbaijani media rushed to deny it.

The Azerbaijani news site 1news.am reported that Deapardieu had told Azeri ambassador to France Elchin Amirbekov he was surprised to learn that he had made such an appeal to the international community.

Here's what the actor says literally in the video posted on YouTube: "Dear friends I invite you to contribute to the humanitarian actions of the Armenian funds. Help them. (Click on the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E8ZMgqVaSZU to watch Deapardieu making the statement).

The artist who has forged ties with Armenia by his friend Metzo Ikitian, president of the Foundation for the Development of Armenian culture, bowed to the flame Memorial Tsitsernakaberd early September. On this occasion, he met President Sargsyan at the invitation of Armenian Fund Development Culture.

This year famous French jazz musician André Manoukian is the sponsor of the Armenian Fund of France.
Donations are recorded at this time more than ten percent over last year. In 2009, France collected 1.3 million euros.
