Armenia, Hungary to establish military cooperation

Armenia's Defense Minister Seyran Ohanyan met Tuesday with his Hungarian counterpart Chaba Hendey.

The meeting between the two countries' officials focused on regional security issues, in view of Hungary's upcoming chairmanship in the European Union.

The ministers signed a military cooperation agreement between the Armenian and Hungarian defense ministries and agreed to o collaborate in the spheres of military reforms and organization of military trainings and exercises. They also agreed to establish cooperation between the two countries' military museums.

Minister Ohanyan visited the Heroes' Square in Budapest to pay respect to the memory of the unknown soldier.

The official visit program envisages the minister's meetings with the Head of Hungarian parliament's National Defense Committee, Zrinyi Miklós, and representatives of the local Armenia community. The minister will also lay flowers at the Armenian Genocide memorial and the monument to Hungarian soldiers.

The delegation led by minister Ohanyan will return to Yerevan on Thursday.
