Russian president considers ruling party source of stagnation

Russian Federation President Dmitry Medvedev has called his country's ruling party – Yedinaya Rossia (One Russia) – a source of stagnation.

'It's no secret that at some stage of our political life, signals of stagnation are observed. The stability in the country creates threats of a possible stagnation,' he said in a video blog posted on the Kremlin's official website.

Medvedev finds that a ruling party may face the threat of collapse once it feels it can no longer be defeated.

At the end of his speech, the Russian leader expressed his intention to make his country's political system more flexible, dynamic and fair.

Medvedev will meet today with leaders of parliament factions. At the meeting, the head of Yedinaya Rossia party's supreme board, Boris Gryzlov, will dwell on the legal initiatives proposed by the president, Echo Moskvy radio station reports.
