Prosecutor General's Office to undertake reforms in 2011

Secretary of Armenia's National Security Council (NSC) Arthur Baghdasaryan received today OSCE Senior Police Advisor Knut Drayer, NSC press service reported.

Present at the meeting was also Sergey Kapinos, the Head of the OSCE Office in Yerevan.

The parties discussed issues related to police reforms in Armenia. Baghdasaryan informed the guests that the current reforms in the sphere aim to bring Armenia's police system in compliance with the EU-Armenia 2009-2011 action plan.

The parties agreed that the reforms will be more effective provided they apply to the entire legal system. In that respect, they emphasized the importance of international organizations' support to Armenia and the OSCE's role in the process.

Baghdasaryan also informed the guests about the plans to undertake reforms in Prosecutor General's Office and open a justice academy in Armenia for preparing and training relevant specialists.

To that end, the parties attached a major importance to deepening cooperation.
