One more political prisoner released: Mushegh Saghatelyan is in freedom now!

Political prisoner Mushegh Saghatelyan has been released, says Tigran Arakelyan, one of the young activists of the Armenian National Congress (ANC).

"He has just been released from Vardashen penitentiary. A lot of people – his friends and relatives – have gathered there to meet him," he told Tert.am.

Detained after the March 1, 2008 disorders sparked by disputed presdiential elections, Saghatelyan was sentenced to 5 years in prison.

Speaking about the reason the activist was released before the expiry of his prison term, Arakelyan said: "It was mostly due to pressures because it's a proven fact that this person has not committed any crime. He was detained on false charges and is now in freedom."
