Syrian president appreciates cooperation with Armenia

Chairman of Armenia's National Assembly Hovik Abrahamyan continues his official visit to the Syrian Arab Republic.
The delegation headed by Armenian speaker was received Wednesday by Syrian President Bashar al-Asad.

Welcoming the guests, the Syrian leader highly appreciated the strengthening of Syrian-Armenian ties, considering Armenian president Serzh Sragsyan's recent visit to his country as a major step in that direction.

He also focused on possibilities of developing economic cooperation in different directions.

Expressing his gratitude for warm reception, Abrahamyan communicated Armenian president Serzh Sargsyan's greetings to his Syrian counterpart, adding that the mutual visits of Armenian and Syrian presidents contributed to the further strengthening of the two countries' friendly ties.

Armenian speaker also expressed high esteem of Syrian people's support to the Armenians after the 20th century Armenian Genocide. He also spoke of the Armenian community's great contribution to the development and strengthening of Syria and the promotion of an intercultural dialogue between Christian and Muslim societies.

The parties discussed foreign policy issues and other questions of mutual importance.
At the end, al-Asad asked Aabrahamyan to communicate his greetings to the Armenian president.
