President's demarches are well-grounded and deliberate: Hamlet Harutyunyan

Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan's demarches are well-grounded and deliberate; Republican Party of Armenia MP Hamlet Harutyunyan told a press conference today.

"RA president's demarches are deliberate and well-grounded and will not abort the negotiations process," said Mr Harutyunyan.

It comes after Mr Sargsyan did not attend a recent NATO summit over concerns that a document asserting that frozen conflict should be resolved based on the principle of territorial integrity was expected to be adopted at that summit.

Asked whether it is possible that Serzh Sargsyan might not attend the upcoming OSCE summit in Astana, Kazakhstan, either, Mr Harutyunyan said: "If we make sure that anything anti-Armenian, anti-Artsakh is going to be there, he will not go, but I strongly believe that he will go to Astana," explained he.

Speaking about the outcome of the Astana summit, Mr Harutyunyan said that even if a document is adopted, it will not contain anything shockingly new.

"No document containing shocking news will be adopted in Astana," said he, adding that instead a document related to humanitarian issues might be signed.
