Advocacy group to hold protest march in memory of domestic violence victim

The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women in Armenia is set to hold a protest march on November 25 in memory of Zaruhi Petrosyan, the 20-year-old woman, who died as a result of domestic violence on October 1, 2010, at the hands of her husband and mother-in-law.

The participants of the march will move from Yerevan's Cascade complex towards Republic Square. The participants will sign a petition calling for justice in the death of Zaruhi Petrosyan, and call for making donations to support Zaruhi’s two-year-old child.

The Coalition to Stop Violence Against Women in Armenia was set up in the aftermath of Zaruhi Petrosyan’s death, with a goal to ensure a fair and just verdict in the case against her abusers.

The coalition comprises seven non-governmental organizations: Women's Rights Center NGO, Society Without Violence NGO, Tufenkian Foundation's Women's Support Center, PINK Armenia NGO, Zangakatun NGO, and the Sexual Assault Crisis Center.
