Talabani invites Armenian president to Iraq

The Armenian Ambassador to the Iraqi Republic, Murad Muradyan, submitted Tuesday his credentials to Iraqi President Jalal Talabani, Armenian Foreign Ministry's press service reported.

The official ceremony was followed by a private meeting.

Expressing satisfaction with the re-opening of the Armenian Embassy in Iraq, Talabani emphasized its importance, particularly considering that a large number of Iraqi citizens (Armenians by origin) currently reside in Armenia.

The Ambassador communicated to the president the warm greetings of his Armenian counterpart and his invitation to visit Armenia. He also spoke of the friendly ties between the two countries and nations and emphasized the Armenian community's role in the development of Iraq.

President Talabani congratulated the Armenian Ambassador on his appointment and communicated to him his invitation to the Armenian president to visit Iraq.
