Armenia against setting up sub-committee on Karabakh, head of delegation says

Speaking at a news conference on Friday, David Harutyunyan, the head of the Armenian delegation to PACE, voiced Armenia's opposition to setting up a PACE subcommittee on Karabakh.

"First of all, the idea of creating a sub-committee does not belong to Mevlut Chavushoglu, but rather to PACE, which had incorporated the proposal in its Resolution 1416. Second, we considered it to be wrong even then - and it proved to be wrong. Third, we haven't changed our stance on the issue and consider the idea to make no sense. And last but not the least, I don't rule out the possibility that Mr Chavushoglu will nonetheless create such committee. We'll oppose the idea, but even if a committee is set up, we know what to do."

When asked what steps the Armenian delegation would undertake should the committee be set up, Harutyunyan refrained from making predictions, considering the question untimely.
