US diplomats doubtful about Erdogan's credibility

One of the documents released Sunday by WikiLeaks says that Turkish Prime Minister Tayyip Erdogan has advisers with a "very limited understanding of the political reality outside Turkey," German newspaper Der Spiegel reported. The newspaper added that the advisers were called "psycho fanatics" by American diplomats in Ankara.

The prime minister, one of the United States' most important NATO partners, has surrounded himself with "an iron ring of sycophantic (but contemptuous) advisors," writes a diplomat.

The report in Der Spiegel also noted that the documents stated that Foreign Minister Davutoglu was called a "dangerous person" due to his Islamic influence on the prime minister.
