Iranian nuclear scientist killed in Tehran

Iranian state media has reported that a nuclear scientist was killed and another injured after coming under attack in Tehran, Sky News reported.

The university lecturer was killed in a car bomb blast and three people were wounded in another explosion, Iran's al Alam Arabic language television reported.

"Majid Shahriyari was martyred and his wife was injured... Fereydoun Abbasi and his wife were both wounded," a radio report said.

Fars news agency said the scientists were targeted in two different locations by men on motorcycles who approached their vehicles and attached bombs to their cars.

According to the official IRNA news agency, Shahriari was a member of the nuclear engineering department of Shahid Beheshti University in northern Tehran.
