Opposition party's youth wing elects new leader

The youth wing of the opposition Armenian Pan-National Movement (APNM) adopted amendments to the party's charter, elected a youth wing board and a board chairperson at its conference held yesterday, APNP Executive Secretary Vahagn Hayotsyan told Tert.am.

He said the participants elected a 13-member board, which appointed Babken Urutyan as its chairperson.

Urutyan is the son of political prisoner Harutyun Urutyan, who was ex-President Levon Ter-Petrosyan's proxy in Maralik during the 2008 presidential elections.

Ruben Aghabekyan and Lilit Melkonyan were elected as chair and vice chairs of APNM youth body.

Former head of APNM youth wing Karen Karapetyan resigned from post on November 11.

The young opposition activists also adopted a resolution which will be the youth body's action plan for the coming year.
