Top Iranian military 'slapped' President Ahmadinejad: WikiLeaks

Muhammad Ali Jafar, the Commander of Iran's Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolutionary, has allegedly slapped Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, Turkish daily Vatan reports, citing leaked documents disseminated by WikiLeaks.

The documents claim the incident took place at a meeting when Ahmadinejad and Jafar engaged into a hot discussion over the freedom of media in Iran.

Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, according to the source, demanded that media be given more freedom in Iran, but Jafar opposed to the idea and slapped him.

The Army of the Guardians of the Islamic Revolution is a branch of Iran's military, founded after the Iranian revolution in 1979.
Shortly referred to as Islamic Revolutionary Guards, it has 125,000 military personnel including ground, air and naval forces. It also controls the paramilitary Basij militia which has 90,000 active personnel.
