Recruitment has no place in politics, says Armen Martirosyan

The reports by local Armenian daily Hraparak as if Stepan Safaryan, the head of Heritage party's faction in parliament, is going to leave the party and join the Rule of Law (RoL) party is simply fiction, Heritage MP Armen Martirosyan told a press conference today.

"I don't think that there is any issue of recruitment in politics, especially when it comes to the members of Heritage. With this staff of the faction we have come a long way, and there has been no problem," said Martirosyan.

"There are no political disagreements in this team," he added.

Earlier Hraparak published an article saying the RoL is attempting to allure Stepan Safaryan by offering some top positions and to recruit him. It also said that Safaryan has already held two secret meeting with the RoL leadership.

Armen Martirosyan also said he did not believe such reports are initiated by the RoL.

"This publication is a blow also for the RoL in the sense that it clams the party to be in bad need of personnel and that it is trying to gather them from here and there," explained Martirosyan, adding that such reports are initiated by those forces that want to steal Heritage's electorate and to discredit the party.

Talking to Tert.am Stepan Safaryan had dismissed the publication by Hraparak as untrue.

"There has been no such meeting. I don't want to adhere to any other party as I feel very strong in Heritage. I have even not given rise to making such an offer," Safaryan had said.

"Though I am sure that my party will in 2012 be far more successful, but even if this is not the case, I am not thinking about going anywhere," Safaryan had added.
