Transport minister meets with French Ambassador in Armenia

Armenian Minister of Transport and Communication Manuk Vardanyan has received French Ambassador in Armenia Anri Renaux, the press service of the Transport and Communication Ministry reported.

Congratulating the newly appointed diplomat, the minister expressed hope for his contribution to the process of resolving problems of mutual interest.

He also informed the ambassador about French transport and communication companies operating in Armenia, particularly mobile operator Orange Armenia which has enhanced competition in Armenia's mobile communication market.

Speaking of cooperation in transport sphere, Manukyan particularly stressed the role of Aegis Bission company, currently engaged in the projecting and construction of North-South highway. Upon the minister's request, the French Ambassador agreed to organize practical trainings for 75 students from the University of Architecture.

The minister also informed his guest of the cooperation between Armenian and French posting companies Haypost and La Poste and offered a joint project for releasing stamps.

Vardanyan also spoke of French companies' plans to introduce digital broadcast equipment in Armenia.

The parties also discussed the problems in the transport sphere. Minister Vardanyan said the project envisaging concessionary management for the car stationing network will be soon prepared, and an open international contest will be launched. He also detailed on the North South highway construction process, expressing hope for French companies' participatoin in next year's contest aimed at the construction of Yerevan-Gyumri raod section.

Ambassador Renaux said he had great experience in both road construction and posting communication and promised to involve his country's specialised companies in the current activities in the spheres.
