David Nalbandian to take part in Heineken Open-2011

Argentine based Armenian tennis player David Nalbandian has confirmed his participation in ATP World Tour 250 Heineken Open-2011 tournament due in Oakland, New Zealand, on January 10-17, Armenian sports website Armsport.am reported.

Nalbandian, the 2002 Wimbledon runner-up, will be playing in his third Heineken Open after pulling out of this year's tournament with an abdominal strain.

ATP Tour finalist and Auckland regular, David Ferrer of Spain, who was already confirmed for the tournament, is the number one seed while defending champion, John Isner of the US is the second seed.

Tournament director Richard Palmer says he's pleased with the balance of new and returning players.

"Having David Ferrer, the world No. 7 come to Auckland again is fantastic. He is a great player to watch and being in the top 10 proves his quality," tvnz.co.nz website quoted him as saying.
