Hraparak: 20-year-old man commits suicide in Kosh penitentiary

The paper claims it has learned that a 20-year-old man committed suicide in the Kosh penitentiary during the night of November 30.

Arsen Babayan, the spokesperson for the Kosh penitentiary, has confirmed to the paper that the incident took place. But he refrained from elaborating on the details, because an investigation is underway, and that they cannot provide details related to the case.

Further, the source says that the young man had already served his sentence for one and half year by the time of the incident, and less than that remained for his release.

Those familiar with him said he was a quiet and tolerant person and used to live with his mother and it is unlikely he would have willingly resort to such a step, the paper added.

Given that he chose a strange method of suicide – he strangled himself by tying his linen to the heater radiator in the cell – the paper doubts it was suicide, but rather a murder as that method was not an easy one to commit suicide.
