Armenia wins World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad

Armenia's natioal youth team became the champion of the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad taking place in Turkey's southeastern city of Burdur.

In round 9 the young Armenian players beat the Syrian team at 3:1 score and secured their victory ahead of time.

After nine consecutive victories the Armenian team earned 28.5 points.

This is the second time Armenia has won in the World Youth U16 Chess Olympiad. In 1998 the Armenian youth team of chess players included Levon Aronyan Gabriel Sargsyan, Tigran L. Petrosyan and Varoujan Hakobyan.
