Russian president makes predictions on his successor

Meeting with the Editors-in-Chief of Russia's most influential media, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev shared his predictions about his successor in 2012.

"The conversation was open and sharp. They asked me who can be elected to the post of president in 2012 and I told them," Medvedev says in his Twitter microblog, without giving further details of the meeting.

The Russian president does not rule out the possibility of proposing his candidacy for the 2012 presidential election, RBK reported. The same goes for some of his colleagues, including PM Vladmimir Putin.

"Puttin and I maintain close ties. We can agree how to avoid interfering with each other's business," Medvedev said, stressing the importance of not allowing any conflicts between close political forces at election time.

At a meeting with journalists in August, the Russian president said that any 3-rd person might run for presidency.
