Public Council members meet president to discuss Yerevan's environmental problems

Members of the Armenian Public Council met today with President Serzh Sargsyan to share their concerns over the environmental impact of the current urban development activities in Yerevan.

"A lot has really changed, and we are satisfied with both flower-planting and sanitary cleaning but the problems with urban development activities still have to be resolved," Karine Danielyan, President of Towards Sustainable Development NGO, told journalists after the meeting, comparing the current situation in Yerevan with the negative example of Moscow about 10 years ago.

"No wonder that Moscow is currently facing a communication collapse. The same is now the situation with Yerevan. The environmental impact in our climate conditions may be of greater harm, so we definitely need to find some solution," she said.
