We entrust our greatest treasures to Armenians: Turkish official

If Turks had hatred for Armenians, they wouldn't hire Armenian nurses for their children, the Turkish State Minister and chief negotiator with EU, Egemen Bagis, said at his recent speech in Denmark.

Asked about the current rapprochement process between Armenia and Turkey, he ruled out any possibility that the Turkish parliament would ratify the Armenia-Turkey protocols unless there is a progress in the Karabakh conflict settlement.

Bagis also spoke about his country's and people's attitude towards Armenia and Armenians.

"The economic problems in Armenia have forced a lot of people out the country. About 70,000 Armenians currently work illegally in Turkey, while we turn a blind eye to all that. The majority of those Armenians work as nurses. This means we entrust our children – the most precious things we have – to Armenians. Would that be possible if we hated them?," he asked.
