Georgian opposition figure appointed ambassador to Armenia

The Georgian parliament has approved the appointment of ambassadors to Brazil, Mexico and Armenia. The new ambassadors are Malkas Kikeladze, Otar Berdzenishvili and Tengiz Sharmanashvili, the latter representing opposition National Democratic Party.

In its Friday session, the parliament will approve the candidacies of six more ambassadors, one of them - Teymuraz Sharashenidze- seeking the post of the Georgian ambassador to Azerbaijan. Sharashenidze previously served as a consul general in Istanbul.
