Tel Aviv, Ankara close to repairing relations

Israel and Turkey are close to formulating a document that will end the deterioration of ties between the two countries, Turkish diplomatic sources say.

A report in Haaretz Tuesday said Turkish and Israeli diplomats had completed two rounds of talks in Geneva which they described as "very positive."

The fact that Turkey sent air assistance to Israel to fight the massive Carmel Forest blaze was seen as an opportunity by both sides, the newspaper said.

Relations between the two countries hit an all-time low following Israel's raid on a Turkish boat on May 31 as it tried to break the blockade on Gaza.
