Compulsory Enforcement Service chief should have been sacked, not justice minister-Armenian ombudsman

The dismissal of justice minister has nothing to do with the violation of human rights, Armenian Ombudsman Armen Harutyunyan told Tert.am, when asked to comment on the issue.

When reminded about the minister's failure to discipline Compulsory Enforcement Service chief who had slapped and offended his inferior, he said: "I don't know the circumstances of the matter, but I don't understand why the justice minister should have been fired if the violations were committed by the chief of Compulsory Enforcement Service."

The ombudsman, however, refrained from expressing his views on the abuses committed by other officials.
