Politicians express views over prisoners' release

All the political prisoners will be released ahead of time except two people – Nikol Pashinyan and Sasun Mikayelyan, the leader of New Times Party, Aram Karapetyan, told a news conference Friday.

"As today is the 10th of December, I would very much like to see our imprisoned friends in freedom and congratulate them," he said.

Speaking at a separate news conference, Arthur Sakunts, the head of the Helsinki Citizens' Assembly of Vanadzor, also addressed the topic, saying that the issue was a political decision.

"As a result of pressures, the authorities have become so weak and unwilling that they just have to make such decisions. But I strongly doubt that they will apply to Nikol Pashinyan and Sasun Mikaelyan," he said.
