Kremlin hosts memorial concert to mark Tariverdiev's birthday

A memorial concert dedicated to the 80th birthday of famous composer Mikhael Tariverdiev was held in Moscow's Kremlin Hall on Thursday, vesti.ru reported.

Musicians from different parts of the world (including Eva Rivas from Israel and Alexander Rybak from Norway) arrived in the Russian capital to take part in the concert "Nostalgia for the Present".

Looking at Tariverdiev's portrait, duduk player Gevorg Dabaghyan, who had never before played any composition by the famous Russian-Armenian musician, described his countenance as that of a real Armenian.

At the jubilee concert in Moscow, Dabaghyan played Tariveridev's "Nocturne".

An interesting part of the concert was Japanese musicians' performance of Tariverdiev's song with Japanese national musical instruments.

In summer 2011, Mikael Tariverdiev would have turned 80. This is the first year his jubilee is being celebrated.
