Armenian defender to receive EUFA award

UEFA has decided to award prizes to those football players who have taken part in 100 matches in national teams of a given country, local Armenian sports news website Armsport.am reported.

The decision will also have a retroactive effect, which means that those who have already played more than 100 games in national teams will also be awarded with the prize.

Sargis Hovsepyan, the captain of Armenia's national team, will also be given the prize. Hovsepyan, 38, currently playing in defense in Pyunik, has had 117 matches in Armenia's national team.

Interestingly, he has not been substituted in all those matches.

Hovsepyan's figures have set a record and will hardly be surpassed, Armsport.am adds.
