It would be positive if regime leaves – opposition politician

Vahagn Khachatryan of the opposition Armenian National Congress told a news conference today that what happened with Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan and Justice Minister Gevorg Danielyan was a sensation.

"This was not something typical for the bandit regime," Khachatyan said. "In a country where officials place themselves above the law something like that may happen any time. Gagik Beglaryan was one of the pillars of the bandit regime, and his resignation did not follow a lawful procedure; it was rather in line with norms of the bandit regime."

He added there was nothing positive in President Serzh Sargsyan's move. What would be positive is if the regime is gone.
MP Rafk Petrosyan of the ruling Republican Party of Armenia, speaking at the same news conference, said the president is resolute, and those who assault regular people will get punished, too.

Petrosyan revealed a secret, saying that Sargsyan had fired former Chief of Police Hayk Harutyunyan because the latter authorized the use of "wrong weapons" during the March 1, 2008 events.
