Philip Kirkorov agrees to community service instead of imprisonment

Russian pop singer Philip Kirkorov has told Russian NTV channel that he is ready to do community service as a form of punishment for beating television director Marina Yablokova.

"I am neither the first nor the last pop star in our country to do community service," the singer said, adding that the most severe punishment for him was to be deprived of the right to sing on stage.

"If I am not allowed to go on stage, I'll die," he confessed.

Earlier, Kirkorov and Yablokova agreed to settle the case. Kirkorov will reportedly provide "significant monetary compensation" to Chulpan Khamatova charity foundation.
