National Assembly to meet in extraordinary session

National Assembly speaker Hovik Abrahamyan has called an extraordinary session of parliament at the Armenian cabinet's request.

The session will open today and is set to debate 35 issues: among them the controversial amendments to the laws on language and on public education, which open way for opening foreign-language schools in Armenia.

The session will also consider the ratification of an agreement allowing Armenia to send more troops to the NATO-led coalition forces in Afghanistan.
