Areg Azatyan receives award at Henri Vernoy Literary Festival

Armenian writer and multiple award winner of national and foreign literary festivals Areg Azatyan received "Mesrop Mashtots" prize at "Armenian Book 2010" International Literary Festival held in Marseilles, France, on December 11.
 

The ceremony had brought together Armenian fiction writers, playwrights, academicians and professors from different parts of the world.
 

The prize was bestowed by Vigen Chitechyan, the Armenian ambassador to France.
 

Special prizes were awarded to Professor Claude Mutafyan and French Armenia actor Jacky Nercessian.

The Honorary President of the festival was Director of the French TF1 TV channel Charles Villeneuve. The jury members of this year's festival were Ambassador Chitechyan, renowned actor Jacky Nercessian, famous designer from Marseille municipality Didier Parakian, President of Dayabalyan Institute Ohan Hekimian and others.


The honored guests of the festival were Charles Aznavur, Henri Troyat, Robert Gedikian etc.
 

"Armenian Book 2010" International Festival is held every two years. Previously, it has bestowed awards upon such famous writers as Helen Kerilis, Peter Balakian, Jean-Marie Garzu and many others.
 

In 2006, Perch Zeytuntsyan became the first Armenian writer to win a prize at this ceremony.
 

The author of the award which plays a key role in contemporary Armenian literature is Armenian scuptltor Toros whose artistic pieces decorate numerous streets and parks in France and other European countries.
 

Areg Azatyan is the author of four fiction works and several short-length movies.
