No serious changes observed in Karabakh peace talks: Armenian expert

The year 2010 didn't see any serious progress in Karabakh settlement process, according to political analyst Alexander Iskandaryan.

"The same format of conflict settlement is maintained, with Karabakh status remaining unchanged. The Armenian side seeks for continuing the peace talks in future," the expert told today a news conference.

He said Russia is more inclined to maintain the current status quo over Karabakh, while the other co-chairing states of the OSCE Minsk Group are not against the country's taking a lead in the conflict settlement process.

Speaking about the Armenia-Turkey relations, he said the freezing of the rapprochement process had left some Azerbaijan's expectations unmet.

"Azerbaijan hoped it could use Turkey as a tool for extorting concessions from Armenia," he said.
