Armenian authorities should get tougher with Georgia – Armenian MP

Armenian authorities should adopt a tougher stance on Georgia, Shirak Torosyan, a member of parliament and the chairman of the United Javakhk Union, has said.

"Our relations today are merely based on the need to ensure flow of imports. They should be upgraded to a higher level and lessen our dependence on Georgian roads," he told a news conference on Wednesday, calling on the authorities not to allow Georgia to speculate over the sales of the pipeline that supplies natural gas to Armenia.

"The development of the region will not be possible unless there is an integrated economic space," he said, adding the non-conformity between the Armenian and Georgian customs and tax legislations was a problematic issue in that connection.
