Opposition struggles for early election - activist
The opposition Armenian National Congress (ANC) continues active struggle for early election, and the predictions that it is about to collapse are not true, says Grigor Harutyunyan, member of the Armenian People's Party.
"At its recent protest march on the international day of political prisoners, ANC proved once more that it is the only real opposition force, and we naturally continue our struggle," he told a news conference on Thursday.
He denied recent rumors on opposition forces' being in conflict on serious issues.
Speaking of former Yerevan Mayor Gagik Beglaryan's resignation, he said it was nothing more than a "political re-arrangement prior to election".
"That's my personal opinion, and I don’t want to attribute that to the Congress. That's just a trick because the names of possible candidates for mayor circulated even before the municipal election, and the issue was being seriously discussed," Harutyunyan said.
