Any government official who does not meet the requirements set by Armenia's president must not hold governmental positions, Education Minister Armen Ashotyan has said.

"I am sure that all those government officials who do not meet the requirements of the country's leader must not work. I must not work either, should I be that government official," Ashotyan told a press conference today.

He dodged the question if he meets the requirements he mentioned, adding it would not be appropriate for him to answer that question.

He also said he didn't rule out that media reports about his dismissal could be orchestrated by some people, adding that he was sure they are not from the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA).

"There's no way they can be fellow RPA members," said Ashotyan.
