What distinguishes Republican Party from others? - Ruling party's spokesman sums up 2010 achievements
The Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) is different from other political forces in that it adheres to the principles of implementing changes from top levels, says the party's press secretary, Edward Sharmazanov.
"The RPA considers the development of democratic values to be the best form of development," he told a news conference Monday when summing up the party's achievements in 2010 .
Speaking of foreign policy issues, he attached a major importance to the Armenian president's visits to all the UN Security Council member states and the country's successful efforts to remove two Azerbaijan-sponsored resolutions from the United Nations agenda. As for the Armenia-Turkey relations, Sharmazanov said the country hasn't stepped down from its principles on this issue, either.
He also said their party never avoids speaking of the existing shortcomings, including corruption, abuse of authority and other problems, which President Serzh Sargsyan mentioned in his recent speech.
Addressing domestic policy issues, the RPA spokesman said their party continues effective cooperation with the other coalition partners.
Asked about the possibility of new dismissals, he said no officials displaying a non-conscientious attitude to their duties can remain in office.
"I don't think many officials will be dismissed, because there are a lot of decent people in our government," he told Tert.am.
