Armenia has no political system at all and what happens at the political level is simply dictated by some two or three people, former president of Armenia's Central Bank has said.

At a press conference today, Bagrat Asatryan, who is also a member of the opposition alliance Armenian National Congress, also said that the current political system is "extremely ineffective".

"The political system that has been shaped operates extremely ineffectively. There is no political system at all, but rather displays of the will of some two-three people," said he.

Speaking about the existing problems in the economy, Asatryan said: "I am saying confidently that all the problems in our country are accounted for by political situation, and that the political reforms should be the basis of the changes [to be made] in the economic system," said Asatryan.

According to him, the political parties that constitute the ruling majority do not take any steps to address the current situation or at least they don't want to assume any responsibility for it.

"The changes we see – ministers are dismissed – are artificial … for me at least there is nothing convincing in that," said he.

Further, Asatryan said that the 2010 will end with a 2.5% economic growth and with an up to 10% inflation rate – something that will mostly affect the vulnerable layers of the society.
