Young university teachers to celebrate house-warming in January 2011

A 10-storey building complex designed for young lecturers of the Yerevan State University will be inaugurated on January 22, 2011.

According to the Union of Graduates of Yerevan State University, a group of journalists will visit the construction site today to see what has been done so far.

Located in Yerevan's Avan district, the building has been constructed in the framework of a project sponsored by Armenia's president in an attempt to help young teachers to solve their housing problems.

The complex incorporates 315 flats with the ground floor designed for public services, such a shops, exhibition halls, offices, etc.
The buildings are iron-concrete monoliths with the outside walls covered with basalt and petrosilex stones.

Only nine floors are designed for residence with 5 flats on each floor. The complex has also two elevators and natural gas supply.

It also has a recreation area, a playground, fountains, renewed sewerage and water supply, and an underground parking lot for 214 cars.

The owners have obtained the flats at an almost half the market price.

The whole project costs a total of 6.6 billion drams (approx. $18.3 million).
