Eastern Partnership national platform holds second civil society forum
The Eastern Partnership National Platform (EPNP) organized today its second civil society forum to sum up its activities for 2010.
The forum members will submit documents on their 2010 accomplishments, pass a new charter and elect a coordinating board. The meeting agenda also includes working group discussions.
EPNP Coordinator Victor Yengibaryan told journalists that the strategic program adopted at the meeting will also be sent to Brussels to serve as a guideline for their governing board. He also said the national platform activities are classified by the subject-matter principle, including such issues as "Democracy and Transparrent Governance", "Harmonization of Economic Norms and Standards", "Energy and Nature Protection" and "Interpersonal Relations".
The civil society forum is aimed at spreading the eastern partnership ideas, bringing the mechanisms of resolving EP countries' domestic problems in compliance with EU criteria and ensurig public participation and awareness. The Civil Society Forum also aims to unite the six EP countries' societies to assist in their democratic reforms processes.
