UNESCO to hold conference devoted to Armenian khachkars

The United Nations Educational, Social and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) will hold next year an exhibition of Armenian khachkars (cross-stones), Armenian Minister of Culture Hasmik Poghosyan told a news conference on Saturday.

In April, UNESCO is also organizing a conference which, among other things, will also address the issue of khachkars.

Condemning the acts of vandalism against the Armenian khachkars, the minister recommended that precautionary measures be taken against the enemy.

"The information attack can turn into a mass ideology worldwide. In that sense, the Armenian culture is endangered," Poghosyan said.
