Heritage party concerned over law on mandatory car insurance
Ahead of January 1, the date of entry into force of the law on mandatory car insurance, MP Armen Martirosyan of Heritage faction sent a letter to Prime Minister Tigran Sargsyan, once again expressing concerns over the law.
The MP finds it untimely to adopt such changes in Armenia, given the country's socio-economic conditions.
"With the unprecedented inflation and the population's lowering income, it is unfair to impose such burden on society. To oblige people to make mandatory payments at a sacrifice is unacceptable, " Martirosyan states.
He further speaks of December 21 protest when several drivers called on the cabinet to reconsider certain clauses of the law.
"On behalf of the protesters, Anahit Bakhshyan and I submitted to the cabinet a petition which hasn't been answered so far.
What's going to happen to the hundreds and thousands of citizens who can't afford signing a mandatory car insurance contract? Is the cabinet going to impose fines on everybody? Who is going to protect those people's rights and interests?" the MP asks.
