International investigation launched against Ashot Yeghiazryan
An international investigation has been launched against Russian State Duma member Ashot Yeghiazaryan, Interfax reported.
Yeghiazaryan is accused of swindling large sums (Section 4, Article 159 of the Russian Criminal Code).
On November 3, 2010, the State Duma passed a decision to strip Yeghiazaryan off his immunity. The criminal case was filed four days later. If convicted, Yeghiazaryan will face imprisonment for up to 10 years.
The MP is now abroad with his family.
