Parliamentary committee on social affairs prioritizes law on pensions

The Law on State Pensions was one of the key documents approved by the parliament in 2010, according to Hakob Hakobyan, Head of the Armenian parliament's Standing Committee on Social Affairs.

"The legal package which was discussed as a single draft was elaborated on the bases of four organic laws and 43 legal amendments," he told a briefing on Tuesday.

"Our policy in this sector is aimed at making a gradual transition from the generation solidarity principle to the state-citizens relations, enabling each citizen to secure his/her pension for future," he said.

Hakobyan also added that 39 draft laws on social issues were this year submitted to the parliament, and 14 have received approval.
